BREAKTHROUGH WORKSHOP in “PARTY WORTH CRASHING”
“PARTY WORTH CRASHING” is about youth, coming of age, and learning lessons. It’s about laughing at yourself, and figuring things out on your own. It’s about realizing that with the freedom to do anything comes the responsibility to do something.” This one night only musical theatre concert features the powerful and witty music of New York-based composing team Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk and is being presented by Breakthrough Workshop Theatre, one of San Diego’s premier rising educational nonprofit theatre companies.
BREAKTHROUGH WORKSHOP THEATRE, with Founding Artistic Director Ira Bauer-Spector, has been producing theatre in San Diego for over 3 years. BWT’s mission is to provide theatre artists of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels with a chance to explore characters and collaborate on material that they would otherwise be unlikely to encounter. In the first three seasons of work, BWT has produced 19 projects including musicals, plays, staged readings and concerts. They have presented work in the San Diego International Fringe Festival for three consecutive years, including most recently with the World Premiere of Thomas Hodges’ song cycle, THE THINGS WE NEVER SAY, which won the Fringe Award for “Outstanding Original Score,” was named by Pat Launer as one of the top five “Best in the Fest” and has a cast recording currently available on iTunes and Spotify. Other BWT project highlights include MISS M SAVES THE UNIVERSE!, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, our annual presentation of DEAR HARVEY and various concerts at Martinis Above Fourth.
