Palm Springs cabaret singer Phillip Moore will bring his show, “Barry and Me: A Personal Tribute to Barry Manilow” to the MA4 on April 4, 2018. The show is Phillip’s tribute to this amazing singer/songwriter that has been a part of his life since childhood.
In the show, based on a journey back in time to the beginnings of Barry Manilow’s rise to fame, we follow a young man’s aspirations of becoming a singer and actor that led him to journey to California and start that new artistic career just a few years ago.. The production is narrated and sung by Phillip with keyboard accompaniment by Jason Weber.
Joining Phillip for the April 4, 2018 show will be featured guest artist Darci Daniels, a well-known singer and actress who has performed extensively in San Diego as well as Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Darci plays both Bette Midler who he collaborated with in his early career, and Judy Garland who he recorded a song with on his “Duets” album.
In addition to the many well-known hits we have all come to love (Weekend in New England, Mandy, One Voice, Copa, etc.) several lesser-known but beautiful songs Barry wrote will be featured.
The show traces the dreams of a young boy (Phillip) who aspired to become a singer from his childhood to growing up and, finally, moving to California to pursue an artistic career. This young boy was heavily influenced by Manilow’s songs which he learned at an early age. Manilow’s early career is also highlighted, peppered with interesting tidbits about his life.
