BREAKTHROUGH WORKSHOP THEATRE presents “THE THINGS WE NEVER SAY“
Wednesday, January 8, 2020 8pm
In 2015, Breakthrough Workshop Theatre presented the World Premiere of The Things We Never Say – a song cycle by Thomas Hodges – as part of the 3rd Annual San Diego International Fringe Festival. This production would go on to win Thomas a 2015 Fringe Award for Outstanding Original Score, and his acclaimed songs are captured by the original BWT cast in a recording currently available on streaming platforms.
To commemorate the 5th Anniversary of that iconic production and to launch BWT’s Season 8 in 2020 – a season of work that will explore a theme of “Grief, Empathy, Hope” – the composer Thomas Hodges (who has since had two musicals presented at the prestigious New York Musical Festival in 2018 & 2019) and original director of The Things We Never Say, Ira Bauer-Spector (also BWT’s Founding Artistic Director) will once again present this poignant and moving piece, this time around in a one night-only concert version featuring both members of the original cast and additional Breakthrough Artists, as well as Thomas himself on the keys.
